Wall Mounted Speakers
Wall mounted speakers are all about the housing as well as 'in wall speakers'. Most of the wall speakers are too small to incorporate a decent number of drivers. Wall mounted speakers are designed to work as the surround units of multi channel systems or as the 2 channel units for the stereo.
Wall Mounted Speakers - The Surround Sound
For the surround sound, the wall mounted speakers require a single midrange-driver (loudspeaker). Wall speakers will not generate low frequency sounds. Thus, the good quality Jazz or Blues is out of question in this setup. The idea of the rear wall mounted speakers is purely to supplement the main sounds. The location of the wall speakers is not that important as in the case of 'in wall speakers' The wall mounted speakers may be placed on the swivel bracket. This way, small error in the installation can be rectified by the rotation and pivoting.
Wall Mounted Speakers - The Stereo
The setup for the stereo (for example a music or TV) is less detrimental than the setup for the surround speakers. Here, you do not require a perfect rear-sound effects. As long as you can hear clearly the radio or TV the wall speakers can stay where they are. These audio speakers are also larger than their surround sound counterparts. The stereo system in wall mounted speakers will have 2 drivers: 1 tweeter and 1 woofer/midrange. The more expensive option may offer more complex designs but these can be too heavy for the plaster walls.
Wall Mounted Speakers Installation
Always ensure that your walls can handle the weight of your wall mounted speakers. If your house has plaster boards then the expendable screws are paramount. Otherwise you must look for the stud. There are also serious cautions about the wiring. Wall mounted speakers which use the power cord do require a licensed electrician. The reason is simple - electrical signal will not hurt you but the power line is lethal.
